The way we live literally changed overnight. Tasks that you would have never thought to be an issue of personal safety, are. One of the scariest activities in this environment is to head into the supermarket to get essential supplies. Trying to find a car park, disinfecting trollies or baskets, tip-toeing through the aisles making sure you keep yours and give others their 1.5 metres. Working your way through the check out. Limited to 2 per customer, designated shopping for the elderly, constant cleaning all whilst maintained social distancing.

“Great Western doesn’t have a supermarket. Our community had to either head to Stawell or Ararat to get access to basic essentials. It’s just not an enjoyable experience and it just does not feel safe”, Bruce Ahchow of the Great Western Hotel said.
The Great Western Hotel Motel has re-commissioned their old Drive-Thru bottleshop in the last week to support the Great Western community to stay at home as much as they can.
The Great Western Drive-Thru now stocks a range of household products. You will be able to get the staples, like bread, milk, eggs, bacon, rice, flour, sugar, margarine, cheese, juice, cereal and frozen vegetables as well as a takeaway coffee, drinks and our pre-cooked meal options. They also have plans to add meat packs and fresh fruit and vegetable packs also.
“We will never have the variety or quantity of the supermarkets, but we can keep the basics and build up shopping orders the best we can. We will expand the goods as we understand what our community want and need”
“The Drive-thru is a much better alternative for our community” Ahchow said “You can keep safe distances, in your car, in your own space.” Delivery is also available.
The Great Western Hotel can help you avoid the trips to the supermarket by offering a Drive-Thru pick-up service.
No people queues - if you do need to wait, it will be in your own car
No checkout contact - we can pass your goods on a tray and you can pick up yourself
No angry conversations - Just a smile and the knowledge that you are keeping yourself safe and keeping us in business.
“We love the Great Western community. We really want to slow down the spread of COVID-19 in our community and think this service will help” Ahchow said.
“You can also have them delivered to your home, just call and we will arrange contactless delivery for you.”
“We want to keep our community together, healthy and safe. We want to keep our amazing staff employed and we want to continue to support our suppliers.“
The Great Western Hotel Drive-Thru is open 7 days a week from 10 am - 8pm. You can call to order on 53562270 or use the online ordering form.
